Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed a missile strike on the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, calling the operation “Annunciation of Victory.” The attack was in retaliation for recent US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. While the strike avoided residential areas, Qatar condemned it as a violation of its sovereignty.
Qatar’s air defense intercepted the missiles, and no casualties were reported. The US and UK embassies advised citizens to shelter in place, and Qatar temporarily closed its airspace for safety.
Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US military installation in the Middle East, houses around 10,000 troops and serves as the US Central Command’s forward headquarters. The attack marks a significant escalation, with uncertain implications for further conflict.
Analysts suggest the strike could be coordinated, similar to previous Iranian-US confrontations, but the situation remains fluid.
